CLAIRE CHERRY: Director/Instructor
(a.k.a “Miss Claire”)has been teaching early childhood music, creative movement and theatre in the Metro D.C area for over 8 years. She received a B.A. in Theatre (with a concentration in musical theatre) from the University of Maryland, and has studied voice and acting and dance throughout her career. In addition, she has completed teaching workshops with the High/Scope Educational Research Foundation and Musikgarten (certification- 2006). Currently, Claire is the Director of Music/Drama at Arts-n-Motion in Odenton, MD, and Cherry Blossoms’ Music Time serves as the creative movement class provider at Temple Beth Ami Nursery School in Rockville, MD. For six years, “Miss Claire” taught early childhood music classes in the area at musiKids, Inc., where she also served as Managing Director for three years. In addition, she has directed/taught for Adventure Theatre’s Summer Arts Camp. Claire has worked as a performer/writer and trainer for the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery’s Education Dept. and the National Theatre’s Community Vaudeville Program. She has extensive professional singing and performance experience in musical theatre, TV, and education outreach programs. In 2004, Claire co-produced “Popcorn –Songs for Everyone,” a CD of children’s music. That same year, she founded The A.D Cherry Early Childhood Music Outreach Program, a non-profit organization that proudly provides scholarships and quality early childhood music programs for preschool-aged children whose families could not otherwise afford them.
